Short sleeper syndrome

I just learned about short sleeper syndrome snd suspect I may belong to that category of sleeper. I generally get 5-6 hours of sleep a night but feel energetic and alert all day. I have to force myself to go to bed because I’m not sleepy. I feel no ill effects from sleeping 5-6 hours. My dad used to stay up late and both my grown sons do as well. But how do I know if this is normal for me and not unhealthy?

I wish I could sleep just 5 hours too! A doctor once told me that some people genuinely don’t need more than that. If you feel energetic and well during the day, then your body is probably getting what it needs. And if it runs in your family, it might just be genetic. Enjoy it!
