Hello Sleep Foundation Community,
I’m reaching out to share a recent experience and seek advice regarding my child’s sleep setup.
Background:
My 4-year-old daughter has been transitioning from her crib to a toddler bed. To facilitate this, we purchased a new kids mattress that was marketed as being suitable for young children. However, we’ve encountered some issues that I hadn’t anticipated.
Concerns:
- Comfort: Despite the mattress being labeled as “medium-firm,” it feels quite hard. My daughter has been waking up multiple times during the night, complaining about discomfort.
- Temperature Regulation: The mattress seems to retain heat, causing her to sweat during the night. Our home maintains a consistent temperature, so I suspect the mattress’s materials might be contributing to this issue.
- Allergies: Since the switch, she’s been experiencing mild allergic reactions, such as sneezing and a runny nose. I’m concerned that the mattress materials might be triggering these symptoms.
Recommendations: I’m seeking suggestions for this kids mattresses. Are these mattresses comfortable, breathable, and hypoallergenic? It’s essential that the mattress supports her growing body and doesn’t cause any allergic reactions.
Thank you in advance for your guidance and support. Your insights will be invaluable in helping us make an informed decision.
