Nightmares every time I sleep plus dreaming even when I fall asleep for a few minutes

Hello, I suffer with extremely intense, complex and disturbing dreams every time I sleep- every night and also every time I fall asleep even if I’m asleep for only a few minutes. I have a diagnosis of Complex PTSD so I guess this is the cause of my dreaming. I’ve tried everything I know of to help myself sleep without dreaming. I’ve had no real help from my GP/doctor and when I was refered to a consultant I was prescribed Prasosin ( Hypovase) which had no positive effect. I am constantly exhausted and the emotions stirred up by the dreams stay with me on waking and I feel awful for hours.
Does anyone else out there suffer with intense, complex dreams every single time you sleep?

You have my total sympathy; I have the same issue myself, right down to the c-PTSD.
I have suffered nightmares on a regular basis for over 50 years now.
My lovely husband used to comfort and reassure me when I 'd wake distressed from one of these; sadly though, he passed away in February 2023, so now I have to cope alone.
I wish I had answers for you; but I wanted you to at least know you’re not alone.

I don’t know the answer, but yes I get it. I, too, have PTSD and my dreams are also wildly vivid. I’d be so happy to have a night where my dreams don’t invade, but I never do. If affects my sleep as it keeps me tense and nervous each night before I go to sleep because I wonder what dreams I will experience. Distracting myself with relaxation techniques can help some, but once I fall asleep and the dreams come… well it’s just a vicious cycle.

Thank you for your replies. I wish I had solutions for us- it’s a horrible condition which seriously impacts our lives. I found this article online, a really interesting read which explains alot. And I’ve been reading about Dormio and how it works… if only something like Dormio was available to us here!
