I had a sleep study done (I only slept for 3 hours that night) and this was the result: “The patient experienced 0 obstructive apneas, 3 hypopneas, 0 central apneas, 0 mixed apneas, and 26 RERA’s. The AHI was 0.9. The RDI was 8.4. REM AHI was 3.0. Low oxygen saturation was 88%.”
I’m 71 years old next month. I’m an avid hiker, exercise every day, walk 3-4 miles (I’m not allowed to run anymore or do triathlons) except I will hike 9-15 miles, 90 minute metabolic training at the gym 3 times a week, and bike. I have a garden that I work every summer and I can and freeze a lot of food; I read; I’m a musician/pianist; retired public school teacher; we travel about great deal; I volunteer…I’m not lazy and I stay so busy. But for the past year I have been more tired than usual. I’m beginning to think it is due to the RERAs and lower oxygen levels I’m having when they did the sleep study on me. I’ve had some health issues and have had several surgeries and now I’ve got my life back. Yes, I will push myself hiking that 9 mile thigh burner of a hike but that is just me. But to be honest I am admitting that I need that nap, in the afternoon or even mid morning when I come back from the gym, after having a supposedly good night of sleep. What are the treatments for this? Isn’t my 88% oxygen level low? I’ve never had below 98% oxygen whenever I’ve been tested, but I’m awake. Anyone else have this? I had the sleep study done because my vascular headaches worsened about two years ago and my new neurologist thought it was needed.
