Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a communication project called “THE 25TH HOUR,” which explores the psychological phenomenon Revenge Bedtime Procrastination (RBP) — when young people stay up late to reclaim personal time after a long, demanding day.
To better understand real experiences, I’m kindly looking for:
Personal stories about your sleep habits
Reasons why you tend to stay up late
How RBP affects your daily life or mental wellbeing
Anything you’ve tried to improve your sleep
Or any useful resources, surveys, or data that you know
Your insights would be incredibly valuable for my research and for building a more accurate picture of late-night behaviour among young people today.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share.
I know that it’s a form of self-sabotage. But I can’t seem to get out of the habit of staying up late to do something mindless. I see it as a sense of a reward after a very busy and long day. Just like you suggested it’s for younger individuals I would reply saying that age is not the issue but more so it’s about the demands of a very busy lifestyle. I’m a dentist, single parent of two and the sole bread winner in my household. I do not have the luxury of another adult in the home to help with meals, driving, cleaning, and laundry. It’s all on me so when I can claim a little quiet time it’s the moment I climb into bed and say “ahhhh”.
This is my only “me time” in the day. I stay up much later than I should despite feeling exhausted every morning. Ironically, in a sleep medicine dentist and I teach sleep hygiene
I don’t think age is a factor. And surrender is a good word too!!! I feel like I want to be a computer and be wired into the internet. There is a sci-fi story about just that….some guy applies for a computer job to work on site but in a small apt given to him. By end of story, all the wires from the internet/computer are attached and in his body and he is “one with the world!!”. Enjoy the night!
