Does anyone else have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)? I’ve struggled with it for many decades, but just figured out that’s what my problem with sleep is. Not sleep apnea, not insomnia. It has caused terrible stress, brain fog, daytime sleepiness, memory loss. Please respond if you also have it. The symptoms are non-restful sleep, like what people with apnea have, but sleep monitoring shows normal oxygen levels and you don’t stop breathing. There’s constriction of the nose and/or throat, making it harder to breathe normally during sleep. I’ve noticed that my breathing when I’m half-asleep/just waking up is very rapid and shallow. Blood tests shows high CO2 and high cortisol levels.
Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome? how were you diagnozed? what specialist doctor discovered it?
stress, brain fog, daytime sleepiness, memory loss…I have had all of them for years…
Thanks for sharing this syndrome.
No doctor diagnosed UARS. I figured it out by researching on my own after so many years of looking for answers. How do you cope?
