Waking up with headaches

Hello, I am new and have a question. I wake up frequently with a sharp stabbing pain in the outer cartilage of my ear, and sometimes my neck near that spot as well. In the past I have been diagnosed with migraine, but this feels different and doesn’t usually make me nauseous. It comes on reliably in the middle of the night, 3-4 hours after my bedtime. I took the sleep quiz, and the only headache type that comes close is dehydration. I’ve taken care to pay attention to my sleep hygiene otherwise, and will start hydrating better now and see if it helps. Meanwhile, my only way to deal with the pain is triptan drugs for migraine, which shrink the underlying blood vessels. Problem is, there are strict insurance limitations on the shipment and dosage of those.

Has anyone reading this had a similar problem and found out why being asleep for a while seems to trigger this?

Thanks in advance.
