I got my CPAP about 3 years ago with a nasal cushion. Consistently woke up with a dry mouth. Respiratory Therapist recommended a full-face mask to direct air into both nose and mouth. STILL woke up with a dry mouth. NEW Respiratory Therapist says CPAP only works if mouth is CLOSED; air must be directed through nasal passages only. IS THIS TRUE? If so, what use is a full face mask? Any help appreciated.
Hi Seerbird I’m a mouth breather as I have a deviated septum. I use a full cpap face mask. I use a climateline to warm the air coming in but I still often have a dry mouth. While it’s not great, my cpap works beautifully and my severe OSA is controlled.
Seerbird,
I had the same problem and the vendor recommended a strap to keep the mouth closed. Do you know if the machine is sending you the correct level of air?
The machine had AUTO feature and in my case was totally incorrect- The doctor changed to level 7 and I saw the difference. (No need to buy more stuff).
Do you know how to ensure air is going to nasal passages?
It is too much air that machine launches….where all of that air goes?? I had side effects like bloating….
Hopefully you can reply…. I stopped using the machine with only 2.5 months of use…
