I feel like I haven’t gotten a good night of rest in a year. I’m up until the early hours of the morning tossing and turning, anxious about not functioning the next day, and when I do get to sleep, I’m always having weird vivid dreams and waking up, unable to get back to sleep. I’m incredibly anxious and depressed, and I’m struggling at my job and in my social life. I feel like my insomnia is ruining my life. I’ve tried so many things recommended online and nothing seems to stick. Is there even treatment for this? Do I need to start taking ambien or something?
If it’s that bad, I would go ahead and see a doctor.
Hey Nilima901, I’m so sorry to hear your insomnia has become such a burden on your life. The good news is, you’re not alone, and many people have improved their sleep. First off, definitely take this to your doctor, with a case this bad there’s often other underlying issues at play, and it’s really worth exploring that. In the meantime, we highly recommend following steps to dial in your sleep hygiene as well as possible (see link below), but again, seek professional help.
Please see your family physician there are newer safer treatments available now that are NOT sedatives with all the side effects as well. The newest one is called Quviviq and NOT a sedative.
Have you tried Quiviviq? Does it make you feel groggy in the morning?
My husband is on Quviviq. There is no grogginess or somnolence.(studied in clinical studies) Helps restore sleep architecture. Changed his life he has been an insomniac for years and no more coffee and redbull needed anymore. ! Hope you find help and feel for you.
