I’ve had nightmares since I was a child. As an adult they continue. I don’t usually know what it was about. I also have nighttime “visitors” that get right down in my face & when that happens I scream. My biggest concern right now is that when this happens I jerk my legs out really hard. I had a hip replacement a year & 1/2 ago & this really HURTS my leg & hip! I’m so afraid of dislocating my hip. The doctor says he can give me meds but I don’t prefer this.
Define, or better yet, these “visitors”. I know what you’re going through as far as that part goes and could posibly help.
Visitors means exactly that! They are not known to me & every time someone different. They get down into my face & when I scream or tell them to leave they go away. Very frustrating to say the least!
Thats what i thought you meant. There are a few things you can do, but im not sure this is the appropriate place. If you like, you can email me and go from there.
As far jerking your legs go, here are some helpful articles on hypnic jerks and periodic limb movement disorder.
There isn’t the most clear treatment path, but sounds like sometimes certain drugs are prescribed that can help. If it’s really getting in the way of your sleep I think it’s worth bringing to your doctor.
Hope you have found something useful to help. Best if you just mentally ask your visitors to leave if you can. Hips are pretty solid even after replacement. If you were falling out of bed that might be a different issue but it sounds like significant jerking movement which might not be able to generate the force needed to dislocate a hip. Good luck thinking of you and sending support thoughts
Thank you. I do ask them to leave. Just interested to see if anyone else has my issues. The only problem with the jerking is that it really hurts my hip & leg! lol
Bugger I am sorry to hear that
It’s OK! I’m kind of used to it.
Hi. I have the visitors too. I know they are quite common ( sleep paralysis) but they are terrifying.
Does anyone know more about the causes and how to get rid of them?
For me the visitors are too real to think they are anything but real. Most times I don’t fear them & just telling them to leave works, but sometimes they seem aggressive & get into my face. That’s when I scream! I don’t know anyone else personally that does this & when I mention it they probably think I’m crazy!
