Hi, I have different sleep problem. i am into heavy and over sleep. i sleep night 6 hrs and on weekends, sleep for 9 hrs at nights and afternoon sleep for almost 2-3 hours. what can be reasons and how to deal with over sleeping
Hi there, thanks for sharing. Oversleeping or feeling like you need a lot of sleep can sometimes happen if your body is trying to catch up from shorter nights during the week, or if the sleep you’re getting isn’t very restful. Things like stress, lifestyle habits, or even health conditions (like thyroid issues or sleep apnea) can also play a role.
A few things that may help are keeping a regular sleep schedule, getting sunlight and movement during the day, and limiting naps to around 20–30 minutes so they don’t make you feel groggier. If you notice you’re consistently sleeping 9–10+ hours and still feel tired, it’s worth checking in with a doctor just to rule out any underlying issues.
You’re definitely not alone in this — lots of people go through periods of “heavy sleep,” and with some small changes it can often improve. Wishing you the best as you figure out what works for you!
Excellent response. Yes might need more than 6 hours a night during the week. I find a walk first thing in the morning works well to regulate my sleep cycles then go to bed at approximately the same time every night and wake at same time every day of the week.
Yay! Thanks for sharing more about your sleep
It sounds like your body is trying to catch up on rest, and that’s completely normal sometimes. It’s great to hear you’re already walking in the morning — that’s an excellent way to help regulate your sleep cycles. A few other tips that might complement that -
-
Start your day with water – hydrating right after waking helps signal your body it’s time to be alert.
-
Get outside and move – your morning walk is perfect, even short time outside can help reset your circadian rhythm.
-
Keep a consistent schedule – try to go to bed and wake up around the same time every day, even on weekends.
-
Delay caffeine – wait at least 90 minutes after waking before having coffee or tea, so it doesn’t disrupt your natural wake-up cycle.
-
Limit long naps – if you need to nap, keep it around 20–30 minutes so you don’t feel groggy.
Even small changes like these can make a big difference and help move you in the right direction. Keep experimenting with habits that feel manageable and supportive, and over time they can really improve how rested you feel! ![]()
The same here, but I think I am worse. This year was an extremely stressful year for me, both personal and financial. Many times I just feel overwhelmed with worries. My husband passed in February of this year, I am dealing with Bells Palsy since I was diagose in January of this year. Finances are tighter but the bills are getting paid. Then I had to buy a dfferent car and that 347.00 barely fit in the budget. My basement wall has a crack in it and my homeowners insurance that I have had for years is canceling my home owners insurance effective December 16. I was 6 days late and as soon as I realized that, I called and explained that I could pay it in 6 days. They said it was OK. I did pay it on November 12 and they cashed my money. Then for some reason, they decided to cancel it anyhow, mailed back my checks. I will be letting them know what I think of their company but as it stands, I will have no insurance after Dec.16 unless I find someone else. Now for my sleeping problems. I usually go to bed about 10:30 or eleven. I do read for about a half hour. Then it is lights out. I wake up twice to use the bathroom. When I get up in the morning around 8 or so, I feed my dogs. I don’t even take time for a cup of coffee. As soon as they are done eating, I go right back to bed and sleep for another 2 or more hours. If I had my way, I would sleep even longer. It is cold in my house as try and keep the heat down so I don’t have a huge heating oil bill at the end of the billing stage. I just cant wait to get back in bed and under the warm blankets and I go right back to sleep. Once I am up, I am more apt to do things. I can go to the stores and I am bright eyed and bushy tailed. Once home I can’t wait for bedtime. I know this is not normal. Any ideas or suggestions of what I might do?
