Parasomnia and fibromyalgia

Since I was a child I’ve had many sleep disturbances.

Alice in wonderland syndrome

Sleep walking / talking

Sleep paralysis

And now exploding head syndrome

I am a cpap user, and have been for a number of years obstructive type.

I am wondering if there is a link to these sleep disturbance and fibromyalgia.

I have both, alongside other conditions.

No one in my family has said they have sleep disturbances.

If you have fibro and the sleep disturbances please get in touch I’m curious.

I have central sleep apnea and no i dont know about fibro but sometimes wonder if I have that too. I dont sleep walk or talk though. Whst is exploding head?

Exploding head syndrome is something that happens as you fall asleep.
Not all the time thankfully.
With me I hear a very loud noise that no one else hears, like a door slamming but right up close to my ear, in my head I’m searching for the cause of the noise, but I can’t move for maybe 5 to 10 seconds, then I can’t sleep for a few hours due to the shock of it.

Oh dear , that sounds very unpleasant . Sorry you ade dealing with that. Take care

Hi there, I’ve just found this site to try and find answers to which I now assume to be Exploding Head syndrome. I’ve had it about 4 or 5 times probably in as many years. Although mine has been in the middle of the night rather than when drifting off which seems to be most common description. They sound like a gun shot or little explosion it feels electrical hard to explain. It wakes me up with a racing heart and confusion as to what it is. So it’s very relieving to find this happens to other people!
