Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with Restless Syndrome which makes it harder to get to sleep and wakes me up during the night? Thanks.
Here are things that have helped a lot of people. Im not a doctor and am looking for answers myself.
- Salt. Mix salt and watter better if its celtic salt or pink salt.
- Iron supplements. RLS has been linked to low Iron levels. Taken an iron supplement and see if it helps.
- CBD Oil . Take CBD oil 45 min before your sleep time.
- Bupenorphine if you can get it. Has worked for some people and there is some good research on the subject. Read up on the studies
Try the above one by one and you may find your cure.
For the RLS, find a Neurologist, would recommend checking wit RLS Foundstion in Austin TX.
I have been through several neurologists in Al, Tx and now NC. Beginning in 2010. Severe RLS.
I began with sleep studies showing severe issues with excessive movement, Apnea aggravated by alcohol and now, I prostate/bladder issues and personally believe anxiety.
Breaking it down, the RLS is being treated currently with Ropinirole, Zonisamide and Clonazepam, but the Clonazepam which used to help put me to sleep has become ineffective. I used to take Ambien , can’t remember why it was discontinued interacted with something, dependency I, don’t remember…
Severe alcohol abuse after marital issues, sleep apnea from excessive weight exacerbated the iissuues. Found my Angel, lost 100 lbs and refined the meds. Tried carba-dopa but sensitivity to change ruled that out.
Been wanting to try CBD but all Docs want FDA approval before recommending and not getting support from spouse either.
Latest issues have been waking up middle of night to urgent need to pee, now focusing on prostate and possibly more serious issue. .
Most recent issue is getting to sleep then getting BACK to sleep after waking up during middle of the night.
I know a sleep regimen will help but our favorite sports teams play on central and west coast time and we live on east coast. A choice…and then college hoops iscan start from 8 to 10…
RLS is status wuo but I don’t have that pill to knock me out like Ambien did…
Now my mind is racing, worrying about things that I know I should “give to God and go to sleep”, but mind won’t shut down. Taking Kexipro for that, not sure it’s helping Listening to non self help, no political or sleep stores podcasts helps sometimes but I wear hearing aids and there’s no time left to recharge them if I fall asleep wi them left on. Mine don’t turn off automatically or gave a timer.
iPhone pods don’t fit my ears, plus I’m a side sleeper cuz I snore on y back!
Also have other health consideration, heart attack two years ago resulted in ICD implant , DVTs so on Blood thinners and waiting to have liver checked out due to consistent high numbers there…And skin spots,
Can’t win for losing.
Considering a change in neurologist but no one with 4 hours….
So that’s my story.
