Zepbound for OSA

My Neurologist prescribed me zepbound for OSA but IL Medicaid do not cover it and I cannot afford to pay out of pocket. Can anyone help me?

Hi there, thanks for sharing. That sounds really tough to navigate. Since your Illinois Medicaid plan isn’t covering Zepbound and the out-of-pocket cost is high, I’d recommend reaching back out to your neurologist to see if they can suggest specific pharmacies or programs that may offer it at a reduced rate. Sometimes doctors are aware of manufacturer savings cards or alternative access programs.

There may also be online providers or specialty pharmacies that can assist, but coverage really depends on your insurance plan and what they allow. Unfortunately, many insurance companies still don’t cover this type of medication for sleep apnea, though it may vary by policy.

It’s worth checking with your doctor’s office first — they may be able to help you explore lower-cost options or discuss alternatives that are covered. Wishing you luck, Autumn :light_blue_heart:

I use a dental appliance from my dentist that works significantly it depends on how severe your sleep apnoea is but it fixed the issue for me. I don’t know if you have dental cover.

All the best

My insurance will cover it for OSA, not obesity, but they keep denying me even with the sleep study results and doctor letter stating I have OSA

Oral Sleep appliances should be covered by your medical insurance, not dental insurance. Medicare covers them so it would be worth a try to see if Medicaid would cover them. Please make sure you go to a qualified certified Dentist that specializes in sleep appliances.

Good luck!
